The Reformed Baptist Convention in Rwanda (RBCR) traces its roots back to December 18, 2005, when Rev. Dr. Bashaka Faustin, fueled by a divine vision, embarked on a journey to establish a community of faith deeply rooted in the principles of Reformed theology and Baptist tradition. Together with four other co-founders, they laid the foundation for what would become a vibrant and impactful church in Rwanda.
The inaugural service of RBCR took place in the northern province of Rwanda, marking the official launch of the church's ministry. From its humble beginnings, RBCR steadily grew, guided by a steadfast commitment to the teachings of Scripture and a passion for spreading the gospel message throughout the nation.
In April 2006, the Reformed Baptist Convention in Rwanda was formally recognized with Charter No. 79/11, solidifying its status as a registered church entity. The headquarters of RBCR was established in Kigali, situated in the Gasabo District, specifically in the Kinyinya sector.
Over the years, RBCR has expanded its reach, establishing a presence in nearly all districts of Rwanda. With a membership totaling approximately 704,160 faithful believers, RBCR operates through 56 parishes, 30 local churches, and 63 cells, each serving as a beacon of hope and transformation in their respective communities.
The impact of RBCR extends beyond national borders, as the church actively engages in various interfaith and global partnerships. As a member of the Rwanda Interfaith Council (RIC) and Salt and Light, RBCR collaborates with other religious organizations to address societal challenges and promote unity and reconciliation. Additionally, RBCR is proud to be affiliated with the All Africa Baptist Fellowship (AABF), fostering connections and solidarity with Baptist communities across the African continent. At the global level, the Reformed Baptist Convention maintains its membership in the Baptist World Alliance (BWA), contributing to the collective witness and mission of Baptist churches worldwide.
Throughout its history, the Reformed Baptist Convention in Rwanda has remained steadfast in its commitment to proclaiming the gospel, nurturing disciples, and advancing God's kingdom agenda, both locally and globally. As RBCR continues to grow and evolve, it remains rooted in its foundational values, guided by the grace of God and empowered by the Holy Spirit to fulfill its divine mandate.
